Intergenerational Walt Disney World:
For The Young and Young at Heart
Program #13886     July 12-17, 2009

 At Epcot® discover and learn how various aspects of culture are impacted by technology, communication, commerce and people. Go on your own MouseQuest uncovering clues and completing task during this exploration of science and culture. At Disney-MGM Studios discover aspects of the history, creativity, and innovation behind the Disney animation process and see how technology supports storytelling in today's visual media. Learn of animal behavior, social structure and survival with a visit to Animal Kingdom. Explore the American Story with visits to Frontierland, The Hall of Presidents and Splash Mountain. In the Magic Kingdom® become a Theme Park scientist as you apply scientific methods to explore the physics of sound, light, and magnetism.

From The Surf To The Sky:
Exploring Florida's Space Coast
Program #17383     July 26-31, 2009


Don't be "spaced out" this summer! Come with us to discover wonders of Florida's beautiful Space Coast as we explore famous and hidden treasures. Learn about America's space program at the amazing Kennedy Space Center, follow the history of US space missions, and visit the Astronaut Hall of Fame. Get into the environment and sensitive ecological areas during an airboat field trip on the St. Johns River and pontoon boat field trip cruising down the Banana River. During hands-on encounters at the Brevard Zoo, learn about the challenges of wildlife conservation in our era of global warming. Topping it off, take surfing lessons at Florida's largest and most experienced surfing instruction school - where the instructors will have you up on a board before you know it. Instruction includes water safety, surfing etiquette, marine life awareness and basic techniques of paddling and standing, first in the classroom, then in the water on a soft surfboard. A great summer learning adventure for grandparents and grandchildren alike!

Forts, Folklore and Fun: Fact and Fiction of Florida's First Coast
Program #7259    

From early Spanish exploration to the Gilded Age, discover the fascinating history and culture of Florida's First Coast and the nation's oldest city, St. Augustine. Explore what life was like for early explorers, missionaries and settlers. Enjoy maritime history as you study the St. Augustine Lighthouse, Ft. Castillo de San Marcos and the pirates who sailed the coastal waters of Florida and even boat trip on Matanzas Bay, seeing St. Augustine as the early settlers did. Enter the 20th century to learn of the many contributions of Henry Flagler even meeting his three wives. Daily excursions to explore the Spanish Quarter Museum, the Government House, the Victorian District and more. Evening activities include a ghost walk and putt putt golf.

 Extensive walking is required.

A China Intergenerational Adventure: Dynasties for Generations
Program #16014     

Open your grandchild's eyes to the exotic history, lifestyles and languages of China past and present. Gain insight into Chinese culture as you join in the traditions of the Dai minority Water Sprinkling Festival. Study China's famous landmarks and trace the succession of emperors and dynasties that ruled over the country's unique landscape. Sample Chinese music, teas, snacks and an authentic Chinese dinner at Ming Court. Artisans introduce you and your grandchild to beginner's tai chi, martial arts, acrobatics, calligraphy, paper folding and much more. Compare customs between nations and sing traditional Chinese birthday songs. Explore the Chinese Pavilion and Reflections of China at Disney World's EPCOT© and visit a Buddhist temple.

This intergenerational program is for Exploritas/Elderhostel participants and young learners ages 11-15.
