Lawyer's Assistant Program - Financial Assistance

Financial assistance for technical and professional training programs such as the Stetson University Lawyer's Assistant Certificate Program is through private lenders. No matter who is the provider, all training providers tend to go to the same lenders such as Key Bank, Sallie Mae, or Wells Fargo.

In general, loan companies provide a number of options for repaying student loans. The exact interest rate and repayment schedule will depend on an applicant's credit history.( Sometimes due to a student's credit history, they can only get a loan with a co-borrower or co-signer.) Most loan companies provide opportunities to defer payments during the course. The minimum loan depends on the company, but it is often around $1,000.

Our Lawyer's Assistant Program students who need financial assistance to pay the tuition may go to any loan provider. Students tend to use Sallie Mae's Career Training Smart Option Loan® (www.salliemae.com), but Stetson has no financial interest with Sallie Mae.

If you are currently unemployed or under employed, you may be eligible for a Workforce Central Florida (WCF) training scholarship. To find the nearest location for Workforce Central Florida, visit www.workforcecentralflorida.com. Note, however, there are multiple steps that must be completed before WCF will grant a voucher for tuition, and these steps may take many weeks to complete. If you believe you may be eligible, we highly recommend proceeding with the process. Just remember to begin this process immediately with at least two months lead time prior to the start of the program or you may find that you will not be able to obtain the voucher in time for the start of the program. If you are unable to start on time, the voucher will expire, and you will have to go through the whole process again for the next start date. Don't delay! Begin the process today!
