Cohort Experience

A Cohort by definition is a group or company, a companion or associate. At Stetson, the Executive MBA Program Cohort experience provides an immediate safety net and network of collaboration that extends learning, camaraderie, and creates meaningful friendships.

The Executive MBA was designed with a study team concept often referred to as Cohort-based learning. This format creates an enriching classroom experience by providing students with similar aspirations an engaging environment where discussion flourishes and work and personal experiences are utilized as a launching pad.

Each August, an Executive MBA Cohort begins their journey. In the first year, students build core competencies in economics, statistics, management, marketing, accounting, finance, information technology, quantitative methods, and business law and business tools. The foundation work has been set.

Recognizing global economy and the importance of appreciating the difference in business practices, the program has a study abroad component – the International Trip – which is the bridge to advanced study. Students travel abroad for a week in June. The Cohort meets with international business leaders and learns first-hand how practices differ. The Cohort experiences the culture that supports these international businesses. Often, best practices are shared and implemented in the workplace. Destinations have included Dublin, Prague, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.

Advanced Study fills the last year of the EMBA program. The foundation work in the first year and the International Trip experiences support your learning efforts. In the second year of study, you focus on e-commerce, operations research, financial management, advanced accounting, marketing decision making, international business and finance, organizational theory and behavior, strategic management, business strategy, and business plan development. The Cornerstone Project and business plan development courses are critical in demonstrating individual and Cohort team ability to apply strategies and skills learned from the entire 19 month program.

In the Stetson EMBA program, you are not just a number. Class size is held to a maximum of 24 students so that highly qualified professors, the EMBA Program Coordinator, and the Celebration Center location will provide individualized assistance and access to you throughout your time with us.
