Overview
Qualifying students may be eligible for financial aid from a variety of sources, including Federal, State, Employer Education Benefits, and Veterans Administration Benefits. One form of financial aid, the Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG), is available to students having resided in the State of Florida for at least one year. Continuation and funding levels for the FRAG are determined annually by the Florida Legislature. The Degree Completion Program has a financial aid specialist who will assist you with the financial aid process.
While completing the financial aid application process, you will see the term "full-time." Full-time status for financial aid and academic purposes means that you are taking at least twelve (12) credit hours in any Fall or Spring semester. The arrangement of the Degree Completion Program sessions throughout the academic year will allow you to maintain full-time status by taking two courses (six credits) in each eight-week session.
Please note that dropping below 12 credits (full-time status) in any semester affects financial aid eligibility and prolongs the time required for graduation. Your academic and financial aid advisors will provide individual guidance as needed.
The Financial Aid Application Process
The financial aid application process includes the following steps:
- Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG)- If you have been a Florida resident for at least one year, complete and submit the signed Florida Resident Access Grant application (FRAG) application.
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available on the federal web site (FAFSA), as soon as possible. Before beginning your FAFSA, you should register for a Personal Identification Number (PIN). You may do this at the same website. The PIN will serve as your electronic signature on the FAFSA. This will allow the FAFSA process to be completely paperless. Students who do not utilize a PIN will have to print a signature page and mail it to the federal processor. This may cause a delay of the receipt of your FAFSA results. Be sure to list Stetson University, code 001531, as a recipient of your information. Allow 4 weeks for processing.
- To prevent delays in processing your financial aid, please respond promptly to requests from the Office of Financial Aid to provide any additional information. For example, we may require a copy of your most recent federal tax return. (Note: Please do not submit a copy of your federal tax return unless requested to do so.)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The FAFSA may be completed at any time, but it should be completed as soon as possible after you submit your application to the Degree Completion Program.
When completing the FAFSA, you must include the University's federal ID number 001531 to ensure that the report will be sent to the University's Financial Aid office electronically. This report is required in order for the Financial Aid office to prepare a specialized financial aid package for you upon your acceptance into the Degree Completion Program.
Also, please submit the University's financial aid application and the accompanying Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG) application as soon as possible after applying to the Degree Completion Program.
