Frequently Asked Questions About Hulley Tower

The bell tower area as seen through the trees

How can I make a donation for the work on Hulley Tower?

Will bricks be saved for alumni and friends of Stetson to purchase?

  • Once the tower is dismantled and we know the extent of preserved materials, we will be making whole bricks or pieces of bricks available for those who contribute to the new carillon fund.

Can we get pictures of the bells?

  • Photographs will be made available on this Web site after the demolition process is under way. Please check back periodically for updates.

Will the old bricks be used in the new construction?

  • No. Once the tower is dismantled and we know the extent of preserved materials, we will be making whole bricks or pieces of bricks available for those who contribute to the new carillon fund.

Will the old bells be reinstalled in the new carillon?

  • No.  After the portion of the tower is removed, and the safety of the remaining structure is assured, university officials will explore alternate methods for raising a redesigned tower on the site, with an improved carillon. Stetson’s Eloise Chimes include only 11 bells; a true carillon has at least 23.  As President Lee stated, “We have sought for many years to improve the chimes. This may be the time to replace them.”  Please check this Web site periodically for updates.
