History
Theta Alpha Kappa came into being through the Religious Studies faculty at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York, in 1976. It has since spread to include 8000 members in 180 chapters across the nation. The Alpha Gamma Omicron chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa was founded in 1996. To date, 122 members have been initiated into the chapter. The current chapter moderator is Dr. Leena Taneja.
Purpose
Undergraduate students matriculated in institutions with a Theta Alpha Kappa chapter must have completed at least three semesters (five quarters) at that institution and at least twelve semester credits (eighteen quarter credits) in courses representing these disciplines, have attained a GPA of at least 3.50 (or B+) in such courses and a 3.0 (B) in their total program, and been ranked (if appropriate) in the upper 35% of their class.
