2003-2005 B.S. Degree Requirements

(These requirements apply to all first year students enrolling in the fall semester of 2003 through the spring semester of 2006).

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The student must complete the general education requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences for the Bachelor of Science degree.

LOWER-DIVISION MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Psychology 101 - Introduction to Psychology
Psychology 201 - Personality
Psychology 203 - Great Experiments in Psychology
Biology 101 and 102
Electronic Business Technology 191 or Computer Science 101

UPPER-DIVISION MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Psychology 321 - Behavioral Statistics
Psychology 322 - Research Methods
Psychology 323 - Senior Project

OTHER PSYCHOLOGY COURSES

Any four of the five foundations courses:        

Psychology 305 - Cognitive Psychology
Psychology 312 - Abnormal Psychology
Psychology 313 - Child Psychology
Psychology 333 - Social Psychology
Psychology 382 - Biological Psychology

ELECTIVES

Elective, general education, and major courses together must total at least 120 hours.

COMPARISON OF THE B.A. AND B.S. DEGREE PROGRAMS IN PSYCHOLOGY

The required Psychology courses are the same for the B.A. and B.S. degrees.

B.A. candidates are limited to a maximum of 42 hours of Psychology courses; B.S. candidates may take up to 50 hours if they like.

B.A. candidates must take or exempt two semesters of a foreign language; B.S. candidates must take or exempt only one semester.
