Honors Medical Education Program

The transition from undergraduate to medical student has been made easy by an agreement between Stetson University and the University of South Florida College of Medicine that guarantees qualified students admission to medical school.  The Honors Medical Education Program includes a traditional track that takes eight years (4+4) as well as an accelerated (3+4) track.  On the accelerated track, students who meet the requirements enter the medical program after three years at Stetson, and are conferred the bachelor’s degree after completing the first year of medical school.  While any major offered by the College of Arts and Sciences is available to students on the 4+4 track, students in the accelerated program can only major in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Health Sciences, and Molecular biology.  For more information please click here.

Program with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

Stetson University and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Bradenton are partners in a program that offers qualified students admission to their medical school.  This program is available for exceptional students admitted to Stetson with an interest in osteopathic medicine. Once admitted to the program, if students meet certain criteria, they will continue their education at LECOM.  For particularly well-prepared and motivated students, this program has an accelerated track that grants the DO degree in 7 years, instead of the traditional 8.  Details can be found by clicking here
