Hong Kong

THE HONG KONG BAPTIST UNIVERSITY

Hong Kong, China

Experience one of the most modern cities in the world steeped in the traditions of ancient China. Towering skyscrapers are juxtaposed to teeming markets, Buddhist Monasteries, and Taoist temples in this densely packed city of over 6 million people. There are also beaches and hiking trails for those who wish to take a break from big city life.

Hong Kong is a gateway to all of Asia and students may take advantage of many travel opportunities during semester breaks or upon completion of their studies. Stetson students have traveled to mainland China, Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, and elsewhere.

Study abroad participants may select courses from a full curriculum taught in English.

Paid excursions change each semester but may include Guangzhou on the mainland or the former Portuguese colony of Macao, as well as trips to important sites within Hong Kong.

The Stetson Abroad program is competitive. Enrollment is limited in all programs. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee admission to a given program in a given semester.

Overview:

Cost

  •  For students who live on campus and have a full meal plan, the cost for a semester abroad is approximately the same as the DeLand campus. Refer to the “Expenses” section of the most recent Stetson Bulletin for Comprehensive Fee information. Stetson merit aid, federal aid, state grants (such as FRAG), and other scholarships for study at Stetson are available for study abroad when the program of study is a Stetson Abroad program. Employee tuition benefits do not apply to study abroad programs. (In the event you decide to study abroad through a non-Stetson Abroad program, the financial aid you receive would more than likely not be available to use.)  It is important to contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine the best course of action for your particular situation.
  • Stetson covers basic expenses abroad including: tuition, housing, food, international health insurance, and some excursions.
  • Expenses not covered include: travel to and from the study site (including airfare, train and bus travel), passport, visa, document mailings, and room deposits. Furthermore, meals in restaurants, personal travel, entertainment, etc. come at extra cost to the student. Participants are advised to have at least $100-200 per week abroad in personal funds available to them.
