Admission Policies
- An International Student is any applicant who is not a citizen or a permanent resident (green card holder) of the United States and will require an F or J visa to study in the US. If you have another visa category you are encouraged to contact the International Student Adviser and discuss your visa category upon acceptance.
- Admission criteria include a strong academic record, GPA, and class rank; solid scores on the SAT I, ACT, or TOEFL; and the potential to get involved in leadership, extracurricular, and service-related activities.
Deadlines
- Fall Deadline (begin Aug): May 1
- Spring Deadline (begin January): October 1
- Summer Deadline (June): March 1
We encourage you to apply as early as possible. Candidates for fall admission will receive admission notification no later than July 1. Admission remains conditional until final grades are submitted. If final grades are unsatisfactory, Stetson reserves the right to rescind acceptance.

- Official Translated High School Record/Transcript
- Conselor Evaluation Form (only for first year)
- Personal Statement
- Financial Certification Form
- TRANSFERS ONLY: Transcripts from all Universities Attended
Summary of Application and Admission Procedures
- Application is made by the student
- Application is received by Stetson University
- Letter is sent to student acknowledging receipt of the completed application or letter is sent to the student requesting missing application documents
- Completed applications are submitted to the Admission & Scholarship Committee
- Student is accepted and asked to make $2000.00 USD deposit
- Student is put in contact with International Student Advisor and original financial documments are obtained to produce an I-20 Certification Form
- I-20 is sent to student, along with instructions as to how to apply for a visa, along with International Student Packet
- The student completes the International Student Packet and returns it to the Center for International Education
- The student applies for the student visa
- The student enters the United States and arrives at Stetson University

- Beginning Freshman - First time attending university; degree seeking
- Transfer Student - Previous university experience in the US or home country; degree seeking
- Exchange Student - On formal exchange for limited stay of one to two semesters

*Health Insurance: International students are required to purchase health insurance for every semester of attendance at the University. Students must provide each semester proof of insurance coverage either from a US plan or a plan that covers them in the US from their home country.

Scholarships
Stetson University offers several types of scholarships, including academic, music, and athletic scholarships. First-year (freshmen) international students are eligible to receive academic scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $14,000 depending on their academic record. The application for admission will be used as application for academic scholarships. Apart from our academic scholarships, Stetson University does not offer financial aid to international students.
You may be eligible for scholarships, loans, and grants from your home country; merit-based scholarships from international organizations; and aid from private organizations. To learn more about these aid opportunities, visit the reference section of your local library, talk to your academic advisor, or check out the following available resources.
The Foundation Center is a non-profit organization with a list of grants for which some individuals may apply. The Foundation Center has offices in four U.S. cities, including New York City and Washington, DC.
