The Center for Integrative Medicine at Stetson University’s Integrative Health Science department offers components designed to educate students and community members about diverse health care systems. Systems included (but not limited to) are as follows: Herbal medicine, naturopathy, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, faith healing, psychic healing, therapeutic touch, chiropractic medicine, aruvedic medicine, Unani, Shamanism, and osteopathy. The educational lectures are not intended to teach practitioners of these traditional health care systems. The purpose of these seminars are to give basic information about the theories, modalities, and treatment options provided by these alternative and complementary practices. We also now have a small medicinal plant garden offering a unique educational experience where students and community members can learn about medicinal plants.
"Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative." -Brad Lemley Dr. Weil.com news |
