Distinctive Programs

Students within the College of Arts and Sciences are afforded a wide range of distinctive programs to complement their studies. These programs offer students a chance to expand their horizons in many different ways.

Students in the Honors Program are enriched by an even more challenging curriculum.

ROTC benefits students with leadership training both pertinent to military and civilian careers. Scholarships are available.

WORLD: International Learning provides students with the opportunity to study abroad in nine different countries.

Students can choose to apply for selection to the Washington Semester program, and spend a semester in Washington D.C. studying foreign policy, economic policy, the criminal justice system, urban policy, or mass media and journalism.

Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL) is a national initiative devoted to improving undergraduate science education. A committee of Stetson faculty have been selected to participate in the initiative.

Forty-one faculty members are presently integrating Service Learning into their coursework. Stetson students find themselves in a variety of settings, ranging from teaching English to migrant workers, to preserving the environment, to helping those in historically poor neighborhoods learn how to start up businesses.

Students have access to the Academic Success Center, which provides students with help learning valuable study skills and resources for support for disabled students, as well as the Math Clinic and Writing Clinic which are tools widely used by students for fostering academic success in all majors and minors.

Career Development and Academic Advising is a valuable resource also available to all students. They offer career counseling, resume/cover letter writing assistance and review, career development workshops, networking events and career fairs, internship placement, and career opportunities.

Fellowships and grants are available to exceptional students in many areas of scholarly interest and activities. Opportunities for research, study abroad, service learning, and graduate studies are just a few of the many possibilities.
