The Institute focuses on providing training in literacy. The institute defines literacy as language, writing, reading, and mathematics, which meets the needs of a broad range of students. Through mini grants, professional development activities and statewide training programs University faculty partner with district faculty to provide workshops that show-case research-based approaches to literacy. Activities have included: • Gender specific pedagogy • Summer literacy programs • Hands-on mathematics workshops • And After-school tutoring * Co-teaching models and workshops (Free instructional video available, click on request)
