Program Evaluation Services


The Nina B Hollis Institute for Educational Reform provides program evaluation. The purposes of program evaluation may include: 1) assessment of program effectiveness; 2) oversight and compliance; 3) program and organizational improvement; 4) identification of best educational practices; or 5) investigation of specific research questions.

Evaluative Services

We use a collaborative approach, teaming with the client to design and implement a comprehensive evaluation and professional development plan. Evaluation plans and designs are tailored to fit the needs of the client. Services may include:

We collect primary data through phone, in-person, mail or web-based survey research, focus groups or one-on-one interviews. Other data sources that are used include: secondary data, information that is kept at the school or district level (e.g., attendance records, grades, standardized test scores, etc.). Our evaluations are independent and rigorous, providing our clients with the evidence they need to improve their programs, pinpoint best practices, raise test scores and draw attention to important findings.

The Program Evaluation Process (PEP) may include the following components:

  • Understanding the program to be evaluate
  • Developing a logic model for the program
  • Designing and planning the evaluation
  • Developing the instruments and data collection protocols
  • Collecting the data
  • Analyzing the data
  • Writing the report
  • Presenting the results
  • Follow-up technical assistance Technical Assistance

The Hollis team provides technical assistance to bridge research and practice. We develop on-going assessment plans, which help schools and teachers understand how research and assessment drive instruction. Independent evaluations are available without technical assistance for programs that would like to keep the evaluation and professional develop areas separate.
