In addition to the general education requirements, a candidate for either a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree must also complete a major recognized by the College of Arts and Sciences. Each major requires 30 or more hours of course work and includes a senior research project.
A minor is not required, but many are available within established academic departments. Details of the requirements for each major and minor are listed separately in this Catalog. The candidate must have at least a "C" (2.0) average in the major and in any minor.
For many majors, certain courses outside the major field of study are required. Such courses are called 'collateral requirements.' Courses taken as part of a minor, a major or the collateral requirements for a major may also be used to meet the general education requirements listed above.
