The Molecular Biology Major

This major is designed for students interested in the interface between the life sciences and physical sciences.

 

Course Requirements:

  • General Education Requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences.

  • Lower-Division Major Requirements:

    • Biology 101 and 102 (General Biology)

    • Biology 201 and 202 (Biostatistical Methods)

    • Chemistry 101 and 102 (General Chemistry)

    • Physics 101 and 102 (General Physics)

    • MS 201 and 202 (Calculus I and II)

  • Upper-Division Major Requirements:

    • Chemistry 303 and 304 (Organic Chemistry)

    • Biology 302 (Genetics)

    • Biology 420 (Molecular Biology)

    • Chemistry 305 and 306 (Biochemistry)

    • Any two of the following: BY301, 304, 314, 315, 320, 401, 409, 421, 422, or CY351

    • Biology 396 (Junior Research)

    • Biology 496 (Senior Research)

    • Biology 498 (Senior Seminar)

  • Additional electives to total a minimum number of hours of 120
