23 - The Shipwreck Dress
A reading by author/Stetson English professor Terri Witek from her newest book of poetry, in collaboration with Cyríaco Lopes, Stetson professor of Art and Digital Art. 7:00 pm in the Duncan Gallery of Art, Sampson Hall
Dr. Witek has also written Carnal World (inspired by sitting for a series of portraits by Stetson Art professor Gary Bolding), Fools and Crows (featuring ekphrastic poems about Renaissance art), and Robert Lowell and Life Studies: Revising the Self. A chapbook, Courting Couples, won the 2000 Center for Book Arts Prize. Recipient of both a Hand Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity and the distinguished McInery Award in Teaching, she holds the Art and Melissa Sullivan Chair in Creative Writing in the Stetson University English Department.
Over the past three years, Mr. Lopes has exhibited in museums and art institutions in France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, the United States, and Brazil. His distinguished awards include, among others, those from the Museum of Contemporary Art in Saint Louis, MO (2003), the World Studio Foundation, NY (2001), and the Phillip's Prize from the Museum of Art of São Paulo, 1997 (trip to Europe).
Lopes and Witek created a piece, “Here a Very Odd Thing Occurred,” for the Stetson University Art Faculty Exhibition in 2007. The piece was a game, a book, an interactive poem, and also served as the exhibition invitation card.

PACKED: Portable Views of Varied Terrain
An exhibition concerned with travel, exchange, conflict, borders, and storytelling. The exhibition features artists from Argentina, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United States. Curated by Sean Miller in collaboration with Matthew Lennon and Sean Taylor.
Amanda Dunsmore, Connie Hwang, Charles Krafft, Matthew Lennon, Aisling O’Beirn, Bethany Taylor, Sean Taylor, Sergio Vega, and the John Erickson Museum of Art, featuring exhibitions by John Feodorov, John Kieltyka, Kristin Lucas, and Arnold Mesches.
Hours: Mon-Fri 10 am – 4 pm; Sundays 1-4 pm. Free and open to the public.
An opening reception on Friday, February 15, 6-8 pm is free and open to the public.
21 - ISENHEIM SYMPOSIUM. Stetson Art History professor Dr. Roberta Favis coordinates a discussion on 15th-16th century artist Mathias Grünewald’s Isenheim Altarpiece. 4:00 – 6:00 pm in Rinker Auditorium of the Lynn Business Center (SE corner of E. Michigan and Woodland Blvd., DeLand) on the Stetson campus. A Student-Faculty symposium, this event is free and open to the public. Cultural Credit applies for Stetson students.
