 Paul Jerome Croce

Paul Jerome Croce is pictured here with Middle Schoolers and students from AS152C, The American 1950s and 1960s, at a night of games from the era.

If you want to understand why Americans do what they do--at work and at play--look to what they believe.  These are the issues that attracted me to American Studies in graduate school, and they have been at the center of my courses and writings.  This work takes me from philosophical beliefs to political ideologies and popular culture—and these all involve people forming their beliefs, living them out, and acting on them to create their lives and American culture as a whole.  It is my take on the culture watching that is the interdisciplinary field of American Studies.

  • Resume/Vita: Businesses call it a resume; academics call it Curriculum Vitae (meaning “Course of Life”) or Vita (meaning simply “life”—as in one’s work life in a snapshot) for short.  In other words, this link will give you the most complete listing of my professional activities: education, teaching, research and service.
