Unified Leadership: Available Positions

Student leadership is essential in a vibrant, engaged university community. Becoming involved in Campus Life and Student Success at Stetson University will enhance your education. By combining the skills you develop through campus involvement and the knowledge gained in the classroom, you will be making the shift from success to significance.

Stetson University not only supports, but encourages participation in on-campus leadership experiences and sees it as an integral part of your total education. This website promotes a number of leadership opportunities available at Stetson. Please consider getting involved and making a positive impact on yourself and your community.

Completing Your Application

In order to complete your student leadership application thoroughly, please follow the steps listed below.

Don't forget! Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2013!

  1. Familiarize yourself with the available positions (listed below). Carefully read the Position Descriptions of the student leadership positions for which you are applying. You may want to meet with student(s) who currently hold the position you are interested in. You will also want to visit specific departmental websites to learn more about the offices. Review the positional chart to review required time commitments, benefits/compensation, and positional compatibility. Depending on which roles you are interested in you may be eligible to be selected for multiple positions.
  2. Check out the resources Career Development offers so you can prepare your resume and build up on your interviewing skills!
  3. Complete the application - You may apply for up multiple positions with only one application! The application includes applicant information and several questions. Some positions may also require an interview or references for the position after the application is completed. Click here to access the 2013-2014 Student Leadership Application. The application is a Google doc so you cannot save it while you are working on it. If you are not going to complete the application immediately you can save your answers in a Word document until you are ready to transfer them to the Google doc and submit it.

Available Positions

The chart shows you all of the available positions in the Campus Life and Student Success leadership application! They cover majority of the student leadership experiences at Stetson. Depending on which positions you are interested in it may be possible to be selected for multiple positions.

Unified Leadership Application Positions

Position: Community Organizer

  • Application Timeline: Application in Spring
  • Employment Dates: Academic Year
  • Hours/Time Commitment: 12 hours per week
  • Compensation and Benefits: Receive polo, name tag, and have the opportunity to attend the IMPACT conference
  • Number of Positions: 10
  • Work Study: Work Study Required
  • Additional Requirements: Must have some experience working in the Issue Area applying for

Position: Homecoming Committee

  • Application Timeline: Application in Spring
  • Employment Dates: March through November
  • Hours/Time Commitment: 12 hours per week
  • Compensation and Benefits: Leadership, Event planning and marketing experience
  • Number of Positions: 14-17
  • Work Study: Not eligible for Work Study
  • Additional Requirements: Minimum 2.5 GPA

Position: Family and Friends Weekend Committee

Position: S.U. First Peer Mentors

  • Application Timeline: Application in Spring
  • Employment Dates: August-May
  • Hours/Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/month
  • Compensation and Benefits: $800 stipend over 8 months
  • Number of Positions: 15
  • Work Study: Work Study Eligible but not required
  • Additional Requirements: Must be first-generation student; must be sophomore or above by Fall 2012

Position: Student Conduct Board

  • Hours/Time Commitment: Fridays from 12-2pm
  • Compensation and Benefits: Critical Thinking and Decision Making Experience
  • Number of Positions: 11
  • Work Study: Not eligible for Work Study
  • Additional Requirements: Must have and maintain at 2.5 overall GPA

Position: S.O.A.R. Council

  • Application Timeline: Application in Spring
  • Employment Dates: April-April
  • Hours/Time Commitment: 3 hours per week
  • Compensation and Benefits: Receive Polo, Attend 1-2 SOAR trips as Student Lead at no cost
  • Number of Positions: 5
  • Work Study: Not eligible for Work Study
  • Additional Requirements: Should have an interest for outdoors recreation activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, etc.

Position: Home Team Student Director

  • Employment Dates: Spring-Summer '13
  • Hours/Time Commitment: 3-7 hours per week
  • Compensation and Benefits: Leadership Experience, Event Planning, Marketing Experience, no monetary compensation
  • Number of Positions: 1
  • Work Study: Not Eligible for Work Study
  • Additional Requirements: Will aid in the planning of Home Team for the Fall 13 semester.

Position: Resident Assistant

  • Application Timeline: Application in Fall
  • Employment Dates: early August - mid May
  • Hours/Time Commitment: 20 hours per weeks
  • Compensation and Benefits: Cost of room, $1000 stipend paid over 10 months
  • Number of Positions: 61
  • Work Study: Work Study Eligible but not required
  • Additional Requirements: Minimum 2.5 GPA, Good Conduct Standing, Must have lived on campus for 2 semesters post high school.
