Allen Hall, Stetson University (DeLand campus)
TED, a nonprofit organization with a mission to spread ideas, brings together three different realms of society -- technology, entertainment and design -- to discuss a broad range of ideas for topics and conversations. Stetson University's TEDx event will give the Stetson University and DeLand communities a chance to engage in thought-provoking presentations, comprised of short talks, demonstrations and performances on a variety of topics relating to the theme.
This year's theme is "The Essence of a Changing Society: Technology, Ideas, and Social Change" and includes the sub-topics of:
- The role of technology in fostering learning and education
- The process of chasing one's aspirations and discovering empowerment in order to create a new reality
- The practice of instigating effective social change at the level of the community
Growing up Amanda always had a passion for creativity and a love for art in any form she could get it. As a current senior at Stetson University in the digital arts program when she isn’t working on the computer she can be found in the Admissions office or soaking up as much warm weather as possible. Beyond Stetson she plans to pursue a career in the marketing field designing campaigns, websites, and logos. Marketing is a necessity for businesses but that does not mean it has to be boring to look at. Outside of the classroom her campus involvement has helped shape her leadership and managerial abilities.
Kitty Geoghan is a freshman studying Psychology and Digital Arts at Stetson University. In high school, she won 3rd place in the Pennsylvania High School Speech League state championship for Extemporaneous Commentary. She has always been interested in speaking, writing, and vlogging about pop culture and social issues.
Linda Ryan is a three time cancer survivor, mother, and co-founder of ME STRONG. As a result of her journey she and four of her closest friends co-founded ME STRONG whose mission is to support the friends, family, and individuals battling cancer through the power of friendship. She thrives on running, exercise, the beach, reading, laughing with her friends, and most of all, being a mom to her two boys, Matthew and Ethan.
