Assistant Vice President for Marketing Media Relations
Janie is responsible for advancing Stetson University's brand and visibility with national and local media by identifying and publicizing people and programs that best illustrate Stetson University's image. Janie's "beat" includes the School of Business Administration, including the Center at Celebration and the natural and social sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences. Janie also is Stetson University's key contact for the media in the event of an emergency.
In addition to working with the media, Janie works with Stetson Today to evaluate effectiveness and design/upgrade in consultation with Web Services and social media development. Janie also works with Creative Services to write/edit publications for schools and colleges in her area of responsibility, and serves on the university's Emergency Management Team, providing public relations counsel on emergency issues and guiding emergency communications.
Janie earned a masters degree in journalism from Louisiana State University. Prior to joining Stetson University, she worked at the national office of AAA in Heathrow, Fla., in social media and public relations. While there she launched AAA's social media sites on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and MySpace as well as other social media outlets. In addition, she wrote many of AAA's policies and procedures related to social media. In the public relations department at AAA, she was a spokesperson for the organization working with national media. In that capacity Janie won a Silver Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America (P.R.S.A.) for her work on AAA's 100th Anniversary publicity. Before joining AAA, Janie was a reporter and editor for newspapers and magazines and wrote frequently about travel and golf.
Manager of Interactive Marketing and Social Media
Gerri’s areas of focus are social media and online marketing. She is responsible for quality assurance of the university’s brand reputation, reach, and relationships across multiple social-media channels, and works closely with internal clients on the development and implementation of comprehensive social-media campaigns.
Gerri has a bachelor of arts degree in English and religious studies from Stetson University, and an associate's degree in advertising and communications from SUNY-FIT.
