Assistant Vice President of University Marketing
Joel leads the university's branding and marketing efforts, where he is dedicated to enhancing the university's national reputation through strategic communications. He facilitates a collaborative marketing approach, with internal clients and external agencies in defining and realizing marketing goals that drive return on investment. This includes leading the university's creative services team of designers, writers, web developers and social media experts in the execution of the university brand across all media channels. Under his leadership, Stetson University Marketing has won many awards including several CASE Grand Awards for best in class marketing and creative work.
Joel holds an undergraduate degree in communications from the Art Institute and a professional graduate certificate in strategic management from Harvard Extension School. He started his Stetson career in 2010 as the Director of Creative Services, is actively involved with the American Red Cross as a disaster services worker and volunteers with HOPE Worldwide.
Heather is a member of the Office of University Marketing as part of the Creative Services team. She is the virtuoso production coordinator for the department, responsible for managing Creative Services projects and maintaining communication with university clients and others throughout the entire process. As the liaison between Stetson University clients and the Office of University Marketing, she tracks job requests, sets deadlines, maintains communication, and coordinates deliveries with clients and vendors. In addition, she also supports the creative services director by scheduling and attending brainstorming sessions with clients, as well as weekly production progress status meetings with the team.
Heather previously worked as a senior account executive at WellCare Health Plans in Tampa, Fla., where she managed the creation, development and production of all corporate marketing materials. Before joining WellCare Health Plans, she was responsible for all aspects of marketing and advertising, including coordinating 75+ national trade shows, managing special events and planning conferences for both First Advantage Corporation and The SSI Group, Inc. She relocated to Florida from Buffalo, N.Y., and earned her bachelor's degree in mass communications at the University of South Florida. She also makes a difference in the lives of others through her volunteer community service.
Heather conceptualizes and designs various marketing materials for Stetson University. Some of her most notable and favorite projects include the School of Music brochure, the cover of the Christmas Candlelight program, the president's holiday card, the DuPont-Ball Library brochure, Mark Powell's The Dark Corner lecture poster and the 2013 Commencement program cover.
Heather obtained her B.F.A. in studio art: printmaking and graphic design from Northern Arizona University. Her graphic design career includes designing for the Central Florida publications Watermark Media and Orlando Weekly. She also enjoys the occasional freelance jobs of wedding invitation design.
She was the featured volunteer guest instructor for the Coalition for the Homeless ABC (Art by Coalition) children's program from 2010-2011.
Bill has won numerous honors in university magazine publishing. For example, while working for Rice University, its magazine won the Sibley, the top university and college magazine honor awarded by CASE and Newsweek. He also edited award-winning university magazines at Washington University in St. Louis, Loyola University Chicago and Xavier in Cincinnati. Furthermore, he is a respected magazine graphic designer, winning numerous awards from Print Magazine, the Society of Publications Designers, CASE and the University and College Designers Association.
Bill edits STETSON, a magazine for alumni and friends of the university, and VISUAL, a magazine for recruiting students. He focuses on capturing Stetson University's unique identity through captivating content and compellingly written articles.
