Peter (Pete) Matulis, born May 25, 1972, is originally from the Cleveland area, although he lived in South Florida as a teenager. After graduating from JP Taravella High School in Coral Gables in 1990, he entered Stetson University, where he joined the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and became a member of the Roland George Investment Program. Matulis graduated from Stetson University in 1994 with a B.B.A. in finance.
That year, Matulis joined First Union National Bank, where he served as a sales manager. Three years later, he joined Brown & Brown of Florida, Inc. A CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), Matulis served with Brown & Brown as an account executive and specialized in insurance advising to restaurants. He currently serves as a senior vice president and sales team leader, concentrating on commercial insurance (property, casualty, auto, fidelity, liability, workers' compensation and benefits). Matulis recently moved from Brown & Brown's Daytona Beach office to an Orlando area office.
Matulis has served as the board president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Volusia County, as a board member of the DeLand Housing Authority and was a member of the Volusia Echo Advisory Board. Matulis's wife, Amy Kiesling Matulis, served on the board of directors of the Museum of Florida Art (DeLand Museum of Art).
From 2003 to 2009, Matulis served on the Stetson University Alumni Association Board. He participated in Leadership Stetson in 2008, and served on the Greek Alumni Advisory Board in 2010. Matulis has served on the School of Business Administration Board of Advisors since 2011, and currently serves as chair of that board.
