SU FIRST - First Generation Peer Mentor Program

Welcome First Gen Hatters!

SU First offers a peer mentor program that provides first generation students with the resources to be successful at Stetson University and beyond.

Stetson University acknowledges that students who are among the first in their families to attend college face some unique challenges. Stetson University's long history of serving first generation students provides the framework for an understanding and supportive campus culture in which first generation students are welcomed and inspired to be successful.

The mission of the SU First peer mentors is to support and guide prospective and current first generation Hatters through transitional periods and help them meet personal and academic goals. Through SU First programs students will:

• Develop a greater awareness of Stetson University resources and culture;
• Develop a sense of engagement and belongingness;
• Gain a better understanding of the financial aid process and the importance of personal budgeting; and
• Learn student success skills vital for academic success.
