Discovery Program

Outdoor class

Students are encouraged to begin college with their minds open to the many possibilities available to them through their academic major, career path, and life's passion. Stetson University's Discovery Program is designed to help students identify their skills and passions and the best links to choice of an academic study and career path.

The Discovery Program offers students a multi-faceted program for informing, advising, and encouraging them to make their university experience as valuable and as meaningful as possible.

Specially designated faculty advisors in the Discovery Program are well-informed about majors, minors, and degree programs throughout the university. Working closely with students, Discovery advisers also offer information about preparing for internships, post-graduate study and employment opportunities.

Through Stetson University's Career Development and Academic Advising Office, Discovery students have special opportunities for individual mentoring, workshops, workplace visits and job shadowing. These customized experiences allow students to explore several different careers each semester. The Discovery Program also offers students special programs that encourage informal discussions with faculty and community members about questions of personal, social and global importance.

The Discovery Program helps students develop their creative, analytical and synthetic thinking until they formally select a major. Click here to view the Spring 2013 Schedule.  All Discovery majors are invited to attend.
