After graduating with a B.A. in Creative Writing and Literature from Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL in 2004, I joined AmeriCorps as a VISTA Volunteer to work at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, WV as the Public Relations, Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator. Though I still harbor great affection for West Virginia, I came home to Florida to earn an M.A. in Literature from Stetson. I currently work with the Stewardship team to help facilitate the relationship between students and the donors who fund scholarships. Since I could not have attended school without the scholarships I received, I sincerely appreciate the generosity of the people who made my education possible. I am happy to be a part of that relationship at Stetson.

As a recent graduate of Stetson, I have thoroughly enjoyed returning to my alma mater to work in the Office of Stewardship. During my time as a flute player/music and business student, I was a proud recipient of the Merridy Williams Memorial Flute Scholarship and had a wonderful relationship with my scholarship benefactors. My interaction with them enhanced my collegiate experience, giving me additional unique performance opportunities and personal interaction with individuals who have close ties to Stetson and made my education possible. I’m interested in facilitating the relationship between students and scholarship donors since it had such a positive impact on my time at Stetson.

As a student at the University of Central Florida, I studied English literature with a minor in Spanish. My extensive work with writing and editing led me to a position as a writing consultant, and later, an assistant editor with a local art magazine. Currently, I am pursuing my master’s degree at Full Sail University with their inaugural New Media Journalism program. The skills I have acquired during my time as a writer, editor and student, have helped me to cultivate and promote the Stewardship Department’s goal of philanthropy, student interaction and donor relationships. Scholarships have played a tremendous role in my education and, as a current student, I can confidently say that without them, an education would have been an unlikely endeavor. For this reason, philanthropy in higher education has become not only a livelihood, but also a passion of mine.
