 Deferred Payment Charitable Gift Annuity

Deferred Payment Charitable Gift Annuities are an easy way to support the university and are usually most attractive to donors age 50 – 65. Typically, these individuals benefit the most from receiving an immediate charitable deduction, and use the future annuity payments as a way to increase their retirement income.

Much like the charitable gift annuity, the Deferred Payment Charitable Gift Annuity is part gift and part annuity. The difference is, rather than the donor or the donor and another person receiving payments immediately, they are deferred until a specific date in the future – as determined by the donor. This gives the principal time to grow, which will ultimately result in larger payments for most people. The donor is entitled to a charitable income tax deduction when the Deferred Payment Charitable Gift Annuity is established.
