Charitable gift annuities are an easy way to support the university and are usually most attractive to donors who are age 70 or older. They are especially attractive during the current low interest rate environment for CDs and savings accounts.
Part gift and part annuity, the Charitable Gift Annuity is an agreement between the donor and Stetson University, whereby a gift is made to the university in exchange for the donor or the donor and another person receiving payments for the remainder of their life (or lives). A portion of the payments are tax-free which makes it even more attractive.
The funds remaining in the Charitable Gift Annuity at the passing of the beneficiaries comes to the university to be used for the purpose designated by the donor. This is one of the easiest and most popular methods of making a planned gift to the university.
