Most frequently asked questions Does the University Image Program foster creativity? The purpose of Stetson's University Image Program is to lend a quality, professional and consistent look, and to standardize our market image. Standardizing the graphic elements in our publications does not preclude creativity. On the contrary, the UIP allows for increased flexibility. Using the grid and Goudy typeface merely standardizes the quality image of the university. The design/layout of the brochure, poster or other printed material can be very creative. You may use appropriate clip art, screens, halftones, or use the grid as an element of design only. Campus personnel have shown the system is not only creative, it is also very flexible. The wordmark itself cannot be used creatively. It represents the university graphically. Its design cannot be modified, distorted, or simulated in any way. The wordmark binds together two of the things that are Stetson University: our name and the fact that we are a UNIVERSITY. To respect those strengths, the wordmark must always be represented in Stetson Green (PMS 342), black, silver, gold, orreversed out as white. What about other colors? Stetson Green (PMS 342) is an important part of Stetson's university image. Green and white have been associated with the university since its founding. For this reason, Stetson Green should be used on publications wherever possible, especially for one-and two-color publications, unless there is a good reason not to, i.e., Casino Night poster, or a one-color publications that has photos of students. Our school color is dark green. That is part of our university image. Other colors certainly come into play and can be effectively usedwith Stetson Green. If Stetson Green is not going to be used, there must be a logical reason to warrant the use of the colors chosen -- not just "personal preference" or to be "different." Maintaining the integrity of whom we are is as important as how we say it. Pre-planning for printing the wordmark is necessary: reverse it out of a color so that it will appear white rather than an unauthorized color. What if my computer is not equipped with Goudy Oldstyle? Goudy or other compatible fonts are available with word processors on campus and may be purchased in a basic package. These are fine for many small typesetting jobs. For more important publications with predominately external audiences, we recommend using the services of an outside printer for typesetting. They are very familiar with our requirements and provide excellent and efficient typesetting and design services.
