Stetson Health Service

Stetson Health Service's (SHS) mission is to promote optimal health and wellness, and disease prevention and provide quality health care that is appropriate, affordable, accessible and relevant. We strive to empower students to be self-directed and well-informed and to continually improve the standards of health care.

SHS is your doctor's office on campus for non-emergency health care needs. Our clinic is run in partnership with AdventHealth and provides primary care to students and employees including their dependents. Patients are seen by appointment and services are charged through health insurance with self-pay discounted rates available for the uninsured.

Please take a moment and tell us how we are doing!

Is Your Insurance Accepted at Stetson Health Service?

To be sure, call the Member Customer Service phone number on the back of your insurance card. Ask them if services at Stetson Health Service will be covered and/or if Dr. Mohammed Asif is in your plan. If you have an "HMO" (Health Maintenance Organization) type insurance, ask if they have a special exception you can set up for college students going out of the area. If not, see if you can switch the primary care provider to Dr. Mohammed Asif, otherwise, you will need authorization from your primary care provider each time you make an appointment with Stetson Health Service. If you have questions, call Stetson Health Service at 386-822-8150 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Hot Topics

As part of the university’s effort to combat COVID-19, Stetson has provided free testing to students and employees for over three years. Due to an increase in recent demand, all free at-home COVID-19 tests have been distributed and no more supplies are available on campus. Understanding that testing may still be needed, here are the current testing options available locally:

Stetson Health Service: All patients must have an appointment. Rapid Antigen tests will be administered for symptomatic patients at the provider’s discretion. The provider’s visit and the diagnostic tests are charged through insurance. Please call 386-822-8150 for appointments.

Local Pharmacies (Walgreens, CVS, etc.): At-home COVID-19 tests are widely available at local pharmacies with prices ranging from $10 to $25. Local pharmacies are still offering on-site testing in addition to the option to purchase at-home tests. Please contact the pharmacies directly or visit their websites for more information about testing availability and costs.

Primary Health Care Providers: If your primary health care provider is local, you can contact their office for other available options for COVID-19 testing.

Stetson University follows the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for COVID-19. Therefore, this transfers decisions to personal responsibility for our faculty, staff and students to monitor for symptom development and self-isolate when needed, as per the CDC's COVID-19 Isolation Protocol.

Students will be responsible for notifying their professors, on-campus supervisors and any close contacts of their isolation status. Employees will be responsible for notifying their supervisors and close contacts.

If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home for at least 5 days and isolate from others in your home. You are likely most infectious during these first 5 days. Use the CDC's Isolation and Exposure calculator to assess your dates and for additional information on when to end isolation.
