When is recruitment and how do I register?
Formal recruitment takes place in the fall. There will be many information sessions, as well as informal meet and greets with all the Greek Letter Organzations in Panhellenic Council and IFC before formal recruitment. To register for recruitment, visit the recruitment section of our website.
There is no Spring Recruitment for Greek Letter Organizations at Stetson University. However, many chapters will have the chance to participate in Continuous Open Biding, and may be able to offer a few select bids throughout the semester.
Will membership in a Greek Letter organization hurt my grades?
Contrary to popular belief, Greek Organizations assist members in achieving high academic marks. Through such techniques as mandatory study hours, networking between members, incentives, and scholarship, fraternities have been able to substantially enhance the learning environment of their members.
What is the time commitment involved in belonging to a Greek letter organization?
There is no minimum or maximum time that a student must donate to the fraternity or sorority. Through involvement with the chapter, students will learn to better manage their time by balancing academics, work, and other commitments. Students find that being active in a fraternity or sorority is well worth the time they put into it.
Will being a member of a fraternity or sorority assist students as they begin their careers?
One of the tremendous assets of affiliation with a fraternity or sorority is the nationwide network of alumni/ae members of the organization. As a student prepares for entry into the career world, alumni/ae members can assist in job placement through their knowledge of where jobs are and who is hiring. In addition, Greek Life will assist students in developing transferable skills that will be needed in the career world, such as management, leadership development, communications, and more.
If I go through Rush, do I have to join a fraternity?
Although most men who participate in Rush decide to accept a bid from a fraternity, you are not required to join. Because it is an excellent chance to get acquainted with Stetson's most outstanding students, the IFC recommends that all young men interested in making new friends participate in Rush. Participating in Rush does not obligate you in anyway.
What philanthropic causes does each of the sororities support?
Each sorority has a philanthropy week where there are various events to raise money for their specific philanthropy.
| Alpha Chi Omega | Stop Domestic Violence |
| Alpha Xi Delta | Autism Speaks |
| Delta Delta Delta | St. Jude Children's Hospital |
| Pi Beta Phi | Literacy and First Book |
| Zeta Tau Alpha | Breast Cancer Awareness |
What makes each sorority different?
Each sorority at Stetson has different values, a different philanthropy, as well as a different reason for its founding. These facts are also what make the different chapters similar. Not every woman in each sorority is going to be an exact replica of the other members because everyone is unique.
What is a fraternity?
A fraternity is a group of men who adhere to the same ideals and principles, work together toward common goals, and are bound together by rituals and the highest possible level of friendship. Fraternities strive to develop the individual talents of members and each member uses these talents for the benefit of the whole.
What do fraternity dues pay for?
Fraternity dues pay for a chapter's dues to its National Organization, dues to the Interfraternity Council, liability insurance, house upkeep, tuition at leadership conferences, intramural supplies, scholarship incentives, and social activities.
