2005-2006 marked the 75th anniversary of Stover
Theatre and 100th season of performing arts at Stetson University.

Stetson has staged more than 700 productions.

Dr. Irving Stover staged 17 of Dr. Lincoln
Hulley's plays.

Dr. Irving Stover holds Stetson's record for
faculty service - 55 years (1908-63).

After each Stover production's final dress
rehearsal, everyone leaves and the stage manager goes into the darkened
theater to invite the ghost of Dr. Stover in.

Broadway designer Michael Yeargan '68 created such
great sets at Stetson that audiences often applauded the sets before the
actors even appeared. Yeargan won a Tony in 2005 for "Light in the Piazza.

The late Ted Cassidy '55, better known as "Lurch"
on The Addams Family, played in many Stover productions - and also played
center on the men's basketball team.

Hollywood costume designer Ret Turner '50, who
trained at Stetson, has received five Emmys and 21 Emmy nominations.

Former Stetson President and Chancellor J. Ollie
Edmunds '25, M.A. '27, J.D. '28, H '43 played several Shakespearean leads in
his student days.

Mark C. Hollis '56, Stetson trustee and benefactor
and former Publix Super Markets president and chief operating officer, says
acting at Stover improved his self-confidence.

Lydia Theurer Pfund '40, M.A. '42, both acted as a
student and later taught in Stetson's theater program with Dr. Stover.

Allen Enlow '74 performs in comedy clubs in the
United States and Canada, has acted in television and film, and has done
numerous cartoon voices - most recently, Samuel in Samuel & Nina.

Michael Shawn Lewis '93, now on Broadway in the
ensemble of the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Woman in White, sang the part
of Raoul in Webber's Phantom of the Opera for years with its national touring
company.
