Using Stover as a scene shop makes it hard to keep the auditorium clean. Scenery stored in the auditorium is also a hazard for students taking classes or rehearsing for plays. Big power tools on stage take up valuable scenery and offstage space. A separate scene shop built north of the stage and connected at stage level would provide space for tool and material storage, as well as keep construction work out of the auditorium. The scene shop building will be approximately 5,500 square feet, running north from Stover to University Avenue. It will include a scenery construction and painting area; classroom/rehearsal rooms; and separate space for storage, tools, shop office, and drafting room. |
