 Endowed Gifts

Endowed funds create a meaningful legacy for their namesakes and are the cornerstone of financial stability for Stetson University. These funds support numerous scholarships, academic programs, faculty positions, lecture series, and more.

Many alumni have established or contributed to funds in honor of family members and friends or in memory of professors who touched their lives. Likewise, various friends of Stetson help fund special programs or areas they care about or are involved in. Our corporate and foundation partners also provide important support through endowed funds for scholarships or programs that align with their organizations’ missions and values.

The University consolidates endowment gifts and invests the assets together as the University’s endowment. The principal of endowed funds is kept intact; awards come from the earnings of the investments so that the endowment is funded in perpetuity. Any excess earnings are reinvested for future growth. Once a fund is established, additional gifts in any amount may be added to it. As the fund balance grows, the amount of monetary support it provides also increases.

Stetson has many important endowment needs, including scholarships, which help a diverse group of talented students to make the most of their educational experience at Stetson. The entry-level amount to establish an endowed scholarship is currently $25,000. It may be funded with a single outright gift, over a period of up to 5 years, or through a donor’s estate.

Because endowed funds generate earnings year after year, the students, faculty, and programs that benefit directly from them know they can depend on this ongoing support. With such generosity, Stetson will continue to thrive both financially and academically.
