Peer Mentor Program
The peer mentor program provides first generation students with resources to be successful at Stetson University and beyond.
Students who are among the first in their families to attend college face some unique challenges. Stetson University's long history of serving first generation students provides a framework for an understanding and supportive campus culture in which first generation students are welcomed and inspired to be successful.
The peer mentor program's mission is to support and guide prospective and current first generation students through transitional periods and to help them meet personal and academic goals. Through SU First programs, first generation students will:
- Develop a greater awareness of Stetson University's resources and culture;
- Develop a sense of engagement and belonging;
- Gain a better understanding of the financial aid process and the importance of personal budgeting; and
- Learn success skills vital for academic success.
