Test Prep
LSAT
The Office of Continuing Education has partnered with Blackstone Prep to provide LSAT preparatory courses. Blackstone's highly experienced instructors have been teaching law and/or LSAT prep for more than 15 years. They have taken every published LSAT. They have diagramed over 2,000 analytical reasoning questions, analyzed over 2,400 reading comprehension questions and dissected over 4,000 logical reasoning questions. Blackstone Instructors utilize only published LSAT exams. They have collaboratively written all of the background material, explanations and test tips in our comprehensive materials package. Their insights and strategies have been developed through years of focused LSAT instruction and are continuously updated.
To ensure that our students get the time and personal attention they need, each course is limited to 20 new students. Instructors are available for extra help before class, after class and by appointment. Additional help is just a phone call away as the university's director of Student Services is available every weekday. They have successfully instructed and advised over 10,000 students and taught over 3,000 LSAT classes, application seminars and pre-law workshops. As a Blackstone student, you decide how much instruction you need and when you are ready to take the LSAT. Your success is assured because 98 percent of our graduates improve their LSAT scores by more than eight points and are accepted to law school. Blackstone Prep provides free diagnostic exams to help you prepare for the exam.
MCAT
Achieve success on the MCAT with the assistance of an expert instructor who is both a physician and a professor. Your instructor, Dr. Gavin J. Putzer, is a medical doctor, a university professor, Harvard University graduate and former MCAT/medical education teaching consultant for The Princeton Review. Dr. Putzer is well-known in the MCAT community, having taught and lectured about the MCAT for more than eight years, spanning thousands of hours. You are cordially invited to learn how to study effectively for the MCAT. The comprehensive course includes:
- Months of expert MCAT teaching from competent, qualified instructors;
- Detailed strategies for analyzing MCAT verbal reasoning passages and for problem solving in scientific passages;
- Thorough exposure to scientific content germane to the MCAT, with emphasis on analytical reasoning; and
- Only the authentic A.A.M.C. MCAT practice materials are used. Unlike other texts, these texts were composed entirely by a doctor and a university professor with years of experience teaching and conducting scientific research methodology (both bench and clinical), medicine, biological sciences and the physical sciences.
This course will adhere closely to the outline provided by the American Association of Medical Colleges (A.A.M.C.) regarding pertinent MCAT topics. The MCAT review manuals will address the topics to study, formulas and reactions to memorize and general concepts to understand. Only topics deemed relevant by the A.A.M.C. will be covered. The MCAT manuals include an extensive verbal reasoning/writing sample manual replete with trademark strategies and techniques. Additionally, there is a physics, general chemistry, biology and organic chemistry manual covering all the pertinent scientific information. There is also an MCAT Workbook with practice MCAT questions. Full-length authentic MCATs are used to simulate testing conditions emphasizing practice, endurance and stamina. Furthermore, relevant interviewing techniques and admissions process tips for admission to medical school will be provided. The course program is designed to present all sessions and materials from a conceptual perspective, not strictly from a memorization and/or mathematical perspective. In addition, the course utilizes the practice materials provided by the A.A.M.C.
