About the Chaplain

Michael Fronk

Chaplain Michael Fronk works with campus ministries, offers pastoral care to the Stetson University community and serves on the Values Commitment Steering Team as a member of the Religious/Spiritual Life Council.

A 1974 graduate of Stetson University in religious studies, Fronk earned a master of divinity degree in 1979 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He is an ordained Baptist minister, and was a full-time pastor in Indiana and Florida churches until 1986, when he began working in the funeral industry. Also ordained as an elder in the Presbyterian Church USA, he has worked as a supply or interim minister in churches of several denominations. Fronk served as chaplain for the Independent Funeral Directors of Florida for 12 years, before becoming chaplain of Stetson University in 2004.

Fronk completed a two-year term as president of Stetson University's National Alumni Association, which involved serving on Stetson University's Board of Trustees. He received the 2004 Distinguished Service Award from the Alumni Association, in recognition of his ability to build bridges between alumni, students, parents, friends, faculty and staff; as well as his willingness to travel widely to spread Stetson University's message.

The oldest of four children to graduate from Stetson University, he and his wife Stephanie have six children, two of whom, Christopher and Jamie, graduated from Stetson University in May of 2003.
