Sand Volleyball Rules

Intramural volleyball rules will apply with the following modifications:
Team Requirements
- Must consist of 4 players. Minimum number of 3 players.
Serving Area
- The serve must be made from behind the back line and within the sidelines.
- Teams must rotate clockwise prior to their new service.
Games Timing & Scoring
- A match will consist of the best out of three games with rally scoring (a point scored on every serve).
- For the first two games the first team that scores 25 points and is ahead by two points is declared the winner. The third game will go up to 15 and the team must win by 2 points.
- One 30 second time out per team per match.
- Flip of a coin will decide which team gets choice of service or court. Second game, courts are switched and if a third game is necessary, courts are changed at 8 points. Service is decided by a flip of the coin for the third game.
Other Game Rules
- If boundary lines move during play, play continues. If it cannot be determined whether the ball was in or out, the rally is replayed. It is the player's responsibility to correct the boundary lines if they are moved.
· Players may position themselves anywhere on the court, and the server may serve from anywhere beyond the end line.
Coed Rules
· If the ball is contacted more than one time before being returned over the net, one of the two or three contacts must be by a female.
· Men and women must alternate in the serving order.
· A team may not have more men than women on the court at any time.
