Title IX Information

Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. The U.S. Department of Education Office For Civil Rights provides guidelines to ensure that schools take effective steps to respond to sexual violence in accordance with the requirements of Title IX.

It is the policy of Stetson University, in accordance with federal and state law, to prohibit unlawful discrimination.

Stetson University complies with Title IX and has developed the following procedures for responding to claims of sex discrimination:

Any student, employee or applicant for employment or admission to the university who believes that she or he has been discriminated against on the basis of sex, may file a complaint with the Title IX Coordinator or with the appropriate Deputy Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Coordinator will assist the complainant in identifying the appropriate university policy and corresponding grievance procedure to resolve the complaint in a prompt and equitable manner.

In the case of student-to-student complaints of sex discrimination (including sexual harassment and sexual assault), the complainant will normally follow procedures established by the Office of Student Affairs in the "Student Code of Community Standards."

In the case of complaints of sex discrimination filed against faculty or staff, the complainant will normally follow grievance procedures established in the university's "Faculty and Staff Grievance Procedures."
