ASSI$T Scholarship
The Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund (ASSI$T) provides scholarship money for relatives of Stetson alumni. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate education. Scholarships are also available for graduate students at the College of Law and/or on the DeLand campus. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000 each annually.
If you would like to make a gift to either of these important scholarship funds, please send your check, made payable to Stetson University, to: Office of Development, Stetson University, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., Unit 8286, DeLand, FL 32723, or give online to Stetson. Please note on your check or gift form that your contribution is for the Karen Schmitt Roberts Travel Fund Scholarship or the ASSI$T Scholarship.
Guidelines for Potential ASSI$T Scholarship Recipients
Stetson alumni with relatives who are applying to the university for the first time should encourage them to list their alumni connections on the Application for Admission. This will ensure that the student is automatically considered for the Alumni ASSI$T Scholarship. It is no longer necessary to fill out a separate application form for this scholarship.
Students are eligible for this scholarship only as entering freshmen. The scholarship is highly competitive with an average of eight $1,000 scholarships available each year. Students selected have the following characteristics: high GPA and standardized test scores; significant financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); and a high level of involvement and leadership in activities and community service.
Each fall, a list of the top candidates based on the criteria below (as determined from students' Applications for Admission) is assembled for the Alumni Association Board of Directors at the annual August meeting. The Board then votes on scholarship candidates and these recommendations are made to the Offices of Admission & Financial Aid, which make the final determination of awards. Students are notified in August if they will receive the scholarship, which is renewable for up to 4 years.
Criteria:
Applicant must be a relative of Stetson alumni (this applies to ASSI$T scholarship recipients only).
Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need. Students must have submitted the FAFSA to be considered for this scholarship.
Applicant should demonstrate leadership qualities and service to the school and to the community and have the potential to contribute in some special way to the Stetson community as demonstrated on the Application for Admission.
Applicant should have a B+ overall average in high school or a 3.0 GPA from college for graduate school or transfer candidates as demonstrated by official transcripts submitted with the Application for Admission.
