Stetson Hatters transfer from a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences including 2 and 4 year institutions. One thing that connects our Hatter Community is the Dare to be Significant. At Stetson, we define transfer students as any student that has already graduated high school and taken coursework at a higher education institution post high school graduation. Current high school students involved in dual enrollment are considered first-time in college students.

Transfer students are supported through the admissions process by the Assitant Director of Transfer Admissions. We understand the transfer process can be difficult to navigate, so we seek to assist you as much as possible by answering all your questions and help in a smooth transition process. Required Supporting Materials

Official Transcripts

Transfer students are required to submit transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended as well as a listing of courses in progress that includes course names, course numbers and numbers of credit hours. Students with less than 30 college credit hours must submit high school transcripts in addition to college transcripts. Students with more than 30 college credit hours are not required to submit high school transcripts.

Official transcripts can also be ordered through Parchment or SENDedu and delivered electronically to Stetson University.

Writing Sample

All applicants are required to submit a writing sample. The writing sample can use one of the essay topics below or may be a graded paper or essay.

Essay Topics

  • Discuss an issue of state, national or global concern to you.
  • If you could live your life fighting for one cause, what would it be and why?
  • Describe a time you did not meet expectations and what impact the experience had on you.
  • What gives meaning to your life?
  • If you wrote a letter to yourself to be opened in 20 years, what would it say?

(Optional) Standardized Testing Scores

Stetson University values academic achievement, commitment to personal values, leadership, talent, character and initiative above standardized testing. Therefore, submitting standardized test results for admission consideration is optional. Score-optional consideration is an alternative for applicants who feel that their test scores don't adequately reflect their level of academic achievement and/or accurately predict their potential. However, if you feel that your test scores are a good reflection of your ability, send them to the Office of Admission and they will be considered along with your other supporting materials. In most instances, applicants choose to submit their test scores.

Stetson University's testing codes are 0756 (ACT) and 5630 (SAT).

ACT and SAT test scores for English, critical reading and/or writing will be evaluated to ensure that first-year students are placed into appropriate classes.

The transfer credit information that is contained in this database is for informational purposes only. The Registrar's Office will make the final transfer credit decision. If a school or course is not listed, the University will conduct an evaluation. A preliminary credit evaluation of the courses that may transfer to Stetson is completed in the admission process. Please send an official transcript to the Office of Admissions to begin the application process.

Your Status Page

Your Status Page is created when you submit an application to Stetson University. Your status page includes your checklist to complete your application. An email is sent with your username and password within the week following submission.

Important Application Dates

Stetson University operates on a rolling admission, so it is best to apply as early as possible, but applications will continue to be accepted until the class is filled. To preserve the faculty-student ratio, classes are limited. The university reserves the right to close the class earlier than dates specified if enrollment goals are met before those dates.
