New Hatter Checklist

Welcome to Stetson University!

Now that you've made the choice to join the Stetson University community, there are some final steps left to prepare for your arrival on campus. If at any point you need assistance in completing these steps, please don't hesitate to contact the Office of Admissions.

Your Checklist

Going forward, you'll need your Stetson University username and the password you created to access the forms below through your Hatter Portal. You should receive your account information shortly following your application to Stetson. If you have not already accessed your account, your password is "su-StudentIDMMDDYY", with your Stetson University ID number (SUID) and your birthdate (MMDDYY) combined.

About three to five business days after you've submitted your enrollment deposit, the Office of Information Technology (IT) will create your Stetson University email account. Even after you graduate, you'll have access to this account.

An email with your username, password and directions on logging into your account will be sent to the email address given on your application.

You'll need to complete the FAFSA, which will start the process of applying for financial aid. You'll also want to familiarize yourself with all of your financial options. The FAFSA is now available for incoming summer and fall students.

In addition to the FAFSA, we recommend students also complete the CSS/Financial Aid Profile, available now on the CollegeBoard website.

Visit the Office of Financial Planning website for more information about applying for financial aid and other scholarships.

Before registering for classes, you need to complete your:

  1. Personal Data and Advising form
  2. Health History form
  3. Immunization Records - must be completed by your family physician and returned to the Stetson Health Service

After these steps are completed, we will be able to complete your first-semester schedule and your New Hatter Advisor will contact you.

Where you spend your time when you're not in class is really important. That's why we give you a lot of options when it comes to living on campus.

As an incoming new student, be sure to complete your Housing Application and Living Agreement. You can explore housing options and access these forms through Housing Central online at the Residential Living and Learning website. Just use your Stetson University email username and the password to access Housing Central. Check your VIP Page or personal email for your Stetson email account information to log in to your account.

The University Residency Requirement pertains to all undergraduate students (incoming first-year, transfer and current students). All students must meet the established criteria before an exemption will be granted and students are allowed to live off campus. For more information regarding the Residency Requirement, review your Housing Application and Living Agreement or the Residential Living and Learning website.

In addition, if you plan to be a commuter student, you must complete the Residency Exemption Request and receive approval from the Department of Residential Living and Learning. You may access this form through Housing Central online at the Residential Living and Learning website.

Stetson University requires that each student completes an online health history form and provide Stetson Health Service a copy of immunization records prior to move-in day.

The Health History form is available on your Hatter Portal. Please use your Stetson University email username and the password to complete this form.

Our health clinic operates just like your home primary care practice. Call your medical insurance company to be sure your visits will be covered. If you have a PPO policy, you'll want to find out if our providers are in-network or out-of-network. If you have an HMO policy, see if they have an exception for students attending college out of the area. If not, you may need to consider changing your primary care provider or purchasing the student insurance plan. A list of our providers can be found on the Stetson Health Service website. Be aware that Medicaid from states outside of Florida and certain types of Florida Medicaid will only cover emergencies while you're here. Every policy is different, so it's important that you check with your insurance company to see what's covered before you arrive.

You can find information on student health insurance, availability, cost and coverage on the Stetson Health Service's campus student insurance page.

If you plan to live on campus, you'll need to select a meal plan. To do so, use the Meal Plan Sign-Up form, which is available on your Hatter Portal. Please use your Stetson University email username and password to complete this form. Check your VIP Page or email for your Stetson email account information to log in to your account. If you have been approved to live off campus and would like to discuss your meal plan options, please contact the Office of Admissions at [email protected].

Your Hatter1card is your Stetson University identification card, activity card, debit card, meal card, library card and access card. Stetson University allows you to create your Hatter ID online by uploading a photo of your choice. You will also have the chance take a picture and pick up your Hatter1card at Select Stetson

For you to officially attend classes at Stetson University, the Office of the Registrar will need an official copy of your final high school transcript, along with a final transcript for any courses, including dual enrollment courses taken at another institution.

Finally, if you have completed AP, IB and/or AICE examinations, those scores need to be sent to the Office of Admissions, too. If you are receiving an IB Diploma, we require official notification.

You can send these documents to:
