English Proficiency
We accept any the following as proof of English proficiency:
- Minimum of 79 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)*
- Minimum of 6.0 IELTS (International English Language Testing System)*
- Level 112 ELS Intensive English Program
If you come from an English speaking country or have attended an English speaking or American school for at least 3 years you do not have to provide proof of English proficiency.
All international applicants for admission who have not been studying primarily in English are required to complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or ELS Intensive English 112 Program. Scores should be sent to Stetson University directly from the testing agency.
If you come from an English speaking country or have attended an English speaking or American school for at least 3 years you do not have to provide proof of English proficiency. You are encouraged, instead, to provide either an ACT* or SAT* examination for your application file.
Stetson University values academic achievement, commitment to personal values, leadership, and an individual's initiative above standardized testing. Therefore, submitting standardized test results (ACT or SAT) for admission consideration is optional. Score optional consideration is an alternative for students who believe that their test scores do not adequately reflect their level of academic achievement and/or predict their potential.
However, if you feel that your test scores are a good reflection of your ability, then send your scores and they will be considered along with the other application items. In most instances, students will choose the traditional method, which includes submission of standardized test scores (ACT or SAT).
Stetson codes are as follows: SAT Code #5630 and ACT code #0756.
*Scores need to be sent to Stetson University directly from the testing agency in order to be considered official.
