Daniel Humphrey

A true leader among his peers and community, Daniel Humphrey embraces the challenge and hard work behind the many leadership roles he holds both in his high school and community. Elected as class president in each of his four years of high school, Daniel is also the president of Key Club and STAR Soccer Club. Moreover, Daniel is team captain of his Varsity Soccer team and Varsity Mock Trial team and plays an active role in the following organizations. National Honor Society, Big Brother Big Sister, Concert Choir, and School Newspaper. Daniel will be a benefit to the Stetson community in many ways, but his greatest accomplishment may come from creating a Stetson Collegiate Mock Trial team. During a recent visit, Daniel was introduced to Dr. David Hill, Associate Professor of Political Science, and the two discussed the idea of starting this project. At the conclusion of their visit, Dr. Hill gave Daniel his blessing and support in creating a mock trial team. Daniel’s goal, along with the guidance of Dr. Hill, is to create and develop a nationally competitive Stetson Mock Trial team. Such an endeavor will take initiative and commitment, two tools that Daniel has mastered.

Jaime Fields

While some students are content to succeed with individual honors, Jaime works to benefit others as well and assist in the overall success of other students. Leadership is a natural characteristic for Jaime, whether it is in the classroom, with her peers or in the heat of competition. Jaime has risen to the top of her class, became editor of her high school newspaper and achieved the #2 national ranking as a freestyle kite boarder. A natural leader, who feels that her greatest strength is to push herself, fellow classmates and those who surround her to achieve their best Jaime has pushed the boundaries of her abilities as well as her teammates, classmates and friends. Jaime’s impact has been felt by the various clubs, teams and organizations that she has been a part of including but not limited to; National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Editor of the Trojan Times, Key Club, D.A.R.E. Role Model, Science Explorers, Varsity Soccer and Varsity Volleyball.

Michaela Kearney

An intensely involved student-athlete, Michaela graduated from Centennial High School in Champaign, IL with the highest scholastic honors of her class. She was named an Illinois State Scholar, won a Big Twelve Conference Academic Award, WCIA Television Best of the Class Award, and Daughters of the American Revolution Award. During her high school career, Michaela was a member of the Interact Honor Society, Student Council, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. Also an athlete, she played on the Varsity Girl's Tennis Team. She also participated in Parkland College's Dual Enrollment program, where she was inducted into Parkland's Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Outside school, Michaela was a member of the Champaign Ballet Academy. During her freshman year Michaela appeared in three Stetson Theater Productions. She joined Zeta Tau Alpha and became Panhellenic Delegate. She was also inducted into the German Honor Society, Delta Phi Alpha. This summer she volunteered at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital. She taught tennis at the Congressional Summer Assembly where she was also head lifeguard. Michaela is majoring in Integrative Health Science and Theater.

Sammi Smith

Sammi graduated from Assumption High School in Louisville, Kentucky. An avid golfer, she was named Player of the Year in the Kentucky Statewide Junior Tour, was a USGA National Golf Tournament Qualifier, and was awarded the Dorothy Waters Award, presented to the female junior golfer in Kentucky who best exemplifies the qualities of integrity, honor, and sportsmanship in competition. She was named team captain three years in a row, and qualified for the state tournament three times. Sammi is also a competitive dancer. She was President of her high school's Spanish Club, as well as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. She also took dual enrollment classes at Bellarmine University, earning 28 credits. Majoring in Mathematics at Stetson, she was awarded the Emmett S. Ashcraft Award for Most Outstanding Junior in Mathematics. Sammi has also been inducted into the national honor society for first-year student achievement, Phi Eta Sigma and the national leadership honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa. She also works as a Math Clinic tutor, is a Supplemental Leader for freshman level math courses and is a member of the QED Math Club. In addition, she continues her athletic passion, playing for the Stetson Women's Golf Team. She has been awarded the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Award the past two years, was named to the A-Sun Academic All-Conference Team for 2011-12 and was placed on the Division I Academic All-American Team in 2010-11 and 2011-12. She helped the Hatters to the 2011 A-Sun Conference Championship her freshman year, for the team's third straight title. She finished her sophomore year with three team victories, three individual top ten's and a scoring average of 76.9. In summer 2011, Sammi finished eighth in the Kentucky Women's Open and improved her performance in 2012, finishing sixth. In a special victory, she and her father won the Kentucky Golf Association Father-Child Championship this past summer for the third year in a row. On campus she is very involved with the Wesley House Methodist Campus Ministries and was a member of the planning committee for Silent Steps, a social injustice awareness event.

Danielle Sanderson

A native of Camarillo, Calif., Danielle graduated as Valedictorian at Adolfo Camarillo High School where she received the Excellence in Mathematics, Foreign Language, and Science awards, as well as being named a Bank of America Excellence in the Social Sciences scholar. In her senior year, she received the U.S. President's Education Award for Academic Excellence and was inducted as a member in the California Scholarship Federation. At Stetson, Danielle has maintained a 4.0 GPA while majoring in both Economics and History. As an Economics major, she has twice been named Outstanding Economics Student of the Year (First Year 2010-2011, Junior, 2011-2012) and was Dept. TA for Freshman Seminar . In Fall, 2012, Danielle will again serve as an Economics TA and tutor. As a History major, she has been inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, the national History Honor Society and served as President of Hindsight, the History Club. In the summer of 2011, Danielle interned for the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. On campus, she was inducted as a founding member of Phi Eta Sigma, the National First Year Honor Society and served as founding historian. Danielle is also involved with student government as Comptroller for SAFAC (Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee) as well a member of the Traffic Appeals Board. Active in campus Greek life and philanthropy, she currently serves as Treasurer of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. In the Spring, 2012, Danielle was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society and Phi Beta Kappa.

Lauren Dunn

Lauren graduated as the salutatorian from Patch High School in Stuttgart, Germany. She was president of the French Club and Physics Club, and Vice President of Student Council. She also served as a delegate in the Model United Nations. Lauren played soccer all four years of high school, serving as co-captain sophomore and junior years and captain senior year. She was a recipient of the Senator Robert C. Byrd Scholarship and a National Merit Scholar Commended Student. She also received the Foreign Language, Science and English department medals. Since coming to Stetson, Lauren has continued to excel. She is a Psychology major with minors in Biology and Humanities, and she has been inducted into Psi Chi, the Psychology Honor Society. She is heavily involved in Student Government, serving as the Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and the Clerk of the Senate. She is currently the President of the University Honor System Council. Lauren is also a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, where she serves as the Vice President of Member Development, which encourages lifelong integration of core values and academic excellence. In the summer of 2011 she worked in Dublin, Ireland as an intern at OutHouse, a non-profit LGBT community resource center. In the summer of 2012, she worked in Morganton, NC as an intern at Broughton Hospital, an inpatient mental hospital for the severely mentally ill.

Eric Hall

Graduating as valedictorian from St. John Lutheran High School in Ocala, Florida, Eric is a proven scholar, humanitarian and athlete. He was selected a National Merit Scholar and named an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction. In addition, he received the Senator Robert C. Byrd Scholarship. Co-captain of his baseball and basketball teams, Eric was named District 6 Baseball Player of the Year, a member of the Florida All-Academic team, and the All-State Baseball First Team. As a Physics major with minors in Chemistry and French, Eric has taken multiple leadership roles at Stetson. Recipient of the George L. Jenkins Prize in Physics, he was inducted into the Physics Honor Society, Sigma Pi Sigma, and now serves as its President. He is also President of the Society of Physics Students. In addition, he has won the General Chemistry Award, the Organic Chemistry Award, and was named an Outstanding Student by the Mathematics Department. Eric's leadership extends beyond the classroom. He is Vice President for Education of the University Honor System Council, volunteers at the Good Samaritan Clinic for the poor, and tutors math on campus. Eric has studied at the Centre International D'Études Français in Angers, France, and was recently inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
