International Undergraduate Students
An application is considered complete when the following credentials have been submitted:
APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION. Stetson University encourages the use of our online application or the Common Application. No form is more preferred than the other. A printable application is found below, as well.
APPLICATION FEE. A $50 fee must accompany your application for admission. Checks should be made payable to Stetson University. This fee is nonrefundable. If you cannot pay the fee, you may submit the College Board form Request for Waiver of College Application Fee or the NACAC Request for Waiver of Application Fee. Your high school counselor must use the ATP guidelines distributed by the College Board for the fee waiver.
FINANCIAL CERTIFICATION FORM. Under the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) regulations, any foreign national coming to the U.S. for full-time study, or transferring from one U.S. academic institution to another for the purpose of study, must have sufficient funds to meet ALL anticipated expenses for at least the first year of study. It is the student's responsibility to present acceptable evidence of adequate financial support BEFORE requesting the USCIS SEVIS I-20 form 'Certificate of Eligibility' which is required to apply for the Student Visa. Upon application for the entry visa, the official at the U.S. Consulate or Embassy may request documentary proof of this support.
SCHOOL RECORDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS. Freshmen applicants should take the attached Secondary School Advisor Evaluation to the proper high school official to be completed and returned to the Office of Admission.

Transfers should also submit a listing of courses in progress including name of class, course number, and number of hours. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: All international applicants for admission are required to complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System(IELTS), or ELS Intensive English 112 Program. Scores should be sent to Stetson University directly from the testing agency.
ACT/SAT TESTING (OPTIONAL): Stetson University values academic achievement, commitment to personal values, leadership, and an individual's initiative above standardized testing. Therefore, submitting standardized test results (ACT or SAT) for admission consideration is optional. Score optional consideration is an alternative for students who believe that their test scores do not adequately reflect their level of academic achievement and/or predict their potential.
However, if you feel that your test scores are a good reflection of your ability, then send your scores and they will be considered along with the other application items. In most instances, students will choose the traditional method, which includes submission of standardized test scores (ACT or SAT). Stetson codes are as follows: SAT Code #5630 and ACT code #0756.
ESSAY QUESTION. Choose one of the following topics and write a thoughtful essay of at least 250 words.
- Discuss an issue of state, national or global concern to you.
- If you could live your life fighting for one cause what would it be and why?
- Describe a time you did not meet expectations and what impact did the experience have on you?
- What gives meaning to your life?
- If you wrote a letter to yourself to be opened in 20 years, what would it say?
