Academic Success Center
Puppyfest!
This Thursday, May 2, the ASC invites all students, faculty and staff to come by the yard behind the ASC from 11a.m. to 12:30p.m. to visit with the dogs from My Angel with Paws. The local therapy dog group will be bringing some of their pups by for all to pet and play with in order to reduce stress and relax a little before finals. Come on by!
Finishing Strong!
There are only a few weeks left in the semester, so make sure to do what needs to be done in order to finish out strong. There are numerous services available across campus to help with this: the Academic Success Center, the Counseling Center and the Hollis Center are just a few.
Our Mission
The ASC provides opportunities for students to reach their individual goals in the higher education environment through ensuring equal access and skills-based coaching and tutoring.
Programs
We offer the following programs to help students:
Success Coaching
A one-on-one coaching experience that provides students with direction in academic areas such as time management, note-taking skills, active reading, and test preparation. A Success Coach works with you individually to support your journey of academic success, providing support and accountability along the way.
Academic Improvement
A Success Coaching experience wherein students work with an ASC staff member to create and fulfill an Academic Improvement Plan, either voluntarily or in adherence to conditions of academic warning or probationary status. You will meet regularly with your Success Coach in order to receive instruction on healthy academic practices, goal-setting, and strategies for grade improvement. ASC staff will also maintain contact with your professors in order to receive feedback on your performance and expectations for each class, sharing feedback with you as you work toward your academic goals.
Disability Resources
Students with learning disabilities, attention disorders, and/or medical or psychological conditions can register with the ASC to receive reasonable accommodations at Stetson. As a registered student, you are also encouraged to use the ASC throughout your time at Stetson as a resource for support and guidance.
Tutoring
Peer tutors in various disciplines are available to help students. You can meet with a tutor to review principles, learn content-specific study strategies, and enhance content area knowledge.
Please stop by our office, call, or email us to set up an appointment with ASC staff.
