Business Administration/Juris Doctorate
Graduate
Program Website
This program is designed to broaden career opportunities in the fields of business and law. Students completing the program receive both an MBA degree from the Stetson University School of Business Administration and a JD degree from the Stetson University College of Law. Holders of these degrees can use the JD to provide legal context for their managerial activities and the MBA to sharpen their administrative and managerial decision-making skills; in fact, many CEOs and upper level managers possess law degrees. In the College of Law, competence comes from a solid academic curriculum backed by an intensive program of skills training through legal clinics and other real-law experiences. Between their solid law education and MBA classes designed to develop management competencies, Stetson graduates with both an MBA and JD enter the workforce ready to work. Students electing to enter this program will enjoy a significant savings in required course work and both degrees may be completed within 3 years. Basically, the MBA program accepts 12 semester hours from a list of directed electives in the law program and the The College of Law Campus accepts 12 semester hours from the MBA program of study. The student's net benefit is a 24 hour reduction when compared to pursuing the two degrees independently. Program Availability The law classes and the required graduate business courses for the MBA / JD program are offered Monday and Tuesday evenings on the College of Law Campus in St. Petersburg, Florida. There are two MBA classes offered in the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters on the Law Campus. Students generally begin MBA classes during their fourth semester in law school and may begin MBA classes during any of the three semesters. MBA courses are also offered on the main campus in DeLand, Florida and at the Celebration, Florida campus near Orlando.
Consult the JD/MBA Overview page on the MBA program's Web site for application procedures.
