The Office of Academic Affairs is located on the first floor of DeLand Hall, across from the President's Office. It is governed by the Council of Deans, which is comprised of Grady Ballenger, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Jim Scheiner, Dean of the School of Business Administration; Leonard Nance, Dean of First Year Studies; and Jean West, Dean of the School of Music. Dr. H. Douglas Lee, University President, serves as the Chair of the Council of Deans.
Serving as a resource to faculty, the Office of Academic Affairs:
The Office of Academic Affairs also has fiscal oversight of the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) and coordinates University Commencements, Baccalaureate, Convocation, and Honors Convocation.

The Council of Deans has general oversight of the academic programs and standards of the University and reports directly to the President. Areas under their supervision, in addition to their respective college, schools, or program include the duPont-Ball Library, the Center for International Programs, the Department of Continuing Education, and the Office of the Registrar.
