JEHOVIST PREACHER IS SUSPECT IN CRIMINAL CASE IN TAMBOV

Investigators in Tambov opened a criminal case against a man suspected of arranging the activity of a religious organization that is forbidden in the R.F., the "Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia," the investigation department of the S.K.R. [Investigative Committee of Russia] for the region reports.
According to the account of the investigation, the 57-year-old man convoked meetings of adherents of the religious confession, arranged religious events and services, conducted preaching activity, and so forth.
The investigators, in cooperation with agents of the F.S.B. [Federal Security Service], conducted a number of searches, including in the man's place of residence, during which technology, telephones, and documents were seized.
A criminal case was opened on the basis of part 1 of article 282.2 of the CC RF (arranging the activity of an extremist organization). (tr. by PDS, posted 22 September 2021)
