ALTAI CUSTOMS AGENTS INTERCEPT BOOK OF EXTREMIST CONTENTS
VRubtsovske.ru, 30 August 2021
Officials of the customs checkpoint of Altai customs in Barnaul discovered an incident of importation into Russia of extremist literature.
The book "Mankind's Search for God," published by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, was discovered by customs agents among the personal items of a citizen of Germany while conducting a customs inspection. This publication is considered in the Russian Federation to be extremist literature and it is banned from import into the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The woman registered the things belonging to her in connection with her change of permanent residence from Germany to Russia. She acquired the book on Germany territory while she was residing there. She did not even suspect that the publication was recorded in the list of extremist literature in Russia.
A case regarding an administrative violation of law based on article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Law of the R.F. (noncompliance with prohibitions and restrictions) was opened against the German citizen. The book was confiscated as an object of administrative violation of law.
By decision of a court, which has taken legal effect, the woman was given an administrative fine of one thousand rubles and the forbidden publication is subject to destruction. (tr. by PDS, posted 31 August 2021)
